What is a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists, like Oral Surgeons, Periodontists, and Orthodontists, are specialists in one specific field of dentistry. Prosthodontics is one of the nine recognized specialties of the American Dental Association. A Prosthodontist is a dental specialist in the restoration and replacement of teeth. This specialty requires 3 years of formal University training after the completion of Dental school. In addition to the three years of specialty training, Board Certified Prosthodontists have successfully passed an extensive written and clinical exam assessing their knowledge and skill level within their specialty.

There is extensive education in the skills to restore optimum function and appearance to your smile. A Prosthodontist's area of expertise includes dental implants, porcelain crowns, inlays and veneers, removable complete and partial dentures, fixed bridges, and complete oral reconstruction following trauma or cancer surgery.

  • A Prosthodontist is the specialist to see when you have advanced or complex dental needs.
