same-day-replacement

Losing teeth, especially your front teeth, can hurt your confidence and even interfere with your ability to do certain things. Our same-day tooth replacements help you regain your confidence, so you can smile, talk, laugh, and eat worry-free.

Teeth in a day, also known as same day dental implants, offer a transformative solution for those needing immediate tooth replacement. This innovative procedure allows individuals to regain their smiles, their confidence, and functionality in a remarkably short time frame. The benefits are manifold: from enhancing aesthetics and preventing bone loss to restoring chewing ability, teeth in a day can significantly improve the quality of life for someone missing a tooth/teeth.

Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out if you are a candidate for same day tooth replacement to help you restore your radiant smile quickly and efficiently.

When Are Teeth Normally Placed On Implants?

There are four protocols for implant **loading (*putting teeth on them):

(1) Immediate loading: prosthesis may be placed in occlusion up to 72 hours after implant placement;

(2) Early loading: prosthesis may be placed in occlusion between 1 week and 2 months after implant placement;

(3) Typical loading: prosthesis is placed 2-3 months after implant placement; and

(4) Delayed loading: prosthesis may be placed in occlusion from 3 to 8 months after implant placement.

Obviously, the choice of one of these protocols will depend mainly on the primary stability of the implant (stability immediately at the time of implant placement).

What Are Teeth In a Day?

This procedure involves the placement of dental implants and the attachment of prosthetic tooth/teeth in a single visit. Doing it this way grants individuals the ability to walk out with a fully restored smile within a day. It involves meticulous planning, precise implant placement, and creation of custom prosthetics, enabling individuals to enjoy the benefits of a full set of teeth immediately.

As a board-certified Prosthodontist, Dr. McFadden specializes in the replacement and restoration of teeth. This includes the placement of dental implants, which are used to replace missing teeth and the design and fabrication of all manner of available tooth replacement options today, whether it be a single crown, a few teeth, or a full set of teeth.

If primary stability of the implant is achievable on the day of placement, we can replace your tooth/teeth and restore your smile in the same day (with a temporary tooth, or bridge). Not everyone or every tooth site is a candidate for this, but we do these virtually every day, so it is very possible yours can be!

What Is The Procedure for Same Day Tooth Replacement?

Once the dental implants are placed in the ideal positions in the jawbone:

For a single missing tooth, we will affix a customized acrylic/temporary crown that matches the natural color and shape of your natural teeth. This temporary appliance provides seamless treatment that allows you to not ever have to be without a tooth.  Once the implant is fully integrated, we can make the final porcelain crown for it.

For a full arch of teeth,  we will fabricate and affix a custom full arch bridge, replacing all upper or all lower teeth in one unit and attach it to a few or all of the implants, depending on the implant stability. This temporary bridge is screwed in and brushed like natural teeth are.

After a few months, we remove the temporary bridge and make a definitive final bridge, which is screwed onto the implants and only removable by a dentist.

Benefits of Same Day Dental Implants

Some of the biggest benefits are that they:

  • Allow individuals to retain their smiles, and not have to deal with the embarrassment of missing teeth while the implants heal
  • Prevent bone loss by keeping the bone alive and keeping it from resorbing
  • Prevent adjacent and opposing teeth from shifting, by keeping the occlusion complete and consistent
  • Better chewing ability

Am I a Good Candidate for Teeth In a Day?

To determine your candidacy for a same day dental implant, schedule a consultation with us. In general, though, this procedure can be considered if:

  • The affected tooth is visible within the smile line
  • A removable, temporary bridge is not ideal
  • There is adequate torque on the implant when it goes in the bone
  • All teeth are being replaced with dental implants

Other qualifying circumstances may also apply. We ensure that your smile is improved as quickly as possible. If you qualify for same day tooth replacement, we will inform you of all relevant preparation or aftercare information.

Are There Any Restrictions with Teeth In A Day?

Dental implants take time to heal fully and become integrated with the bone. For this reason, it is important to remember to be extremely gentle with the use of the temporary teeth placed on the new implants. Remember, we are chewing on implants that have not fully integrated with the bone and are not fully stabilized yet. We are putting teeth on the implants more for cosmetic purposes than functional ones. For NOW. So, it is very important that you don’t use them with normal force for biting, pulling or chewing on anything right away, unless your case is one where we are doing same day temporaries on an entire arch and all implants have been deemed very well-torqued and stable.

In these (full arch) cases, you will still be instructed to stick with soft foods initially, but as a unit, they can withstand more than a single tooth. But with single same day tooth replacement, we will often leave that temporary tooth just slightly out of occlusion and instruct you to chew on the other side of your mouth until the implant has had time to integrate and fully stabilize into the bone. The immediate temporaries, although they may AID in chewing, are not intended to use for full chewing forces right away.

When Is It NOT Just a Day?

Dental implant insertion torque is crucial for the success of the implant and prosthesis. When an implant is placed/screwed into the bone, the amount of torque is measured in Newton centimeters (Ncm).  Studies show that an insertion torque near the range of 35 Ncm is required to get adequate stability for immediately loading (putting a tooth on) an implant.

If there is not enough torque at the time the implant goes in, we will not place an immediate tooth on it because doing so would greatly increase the risk of failure.  However, when this happens, we can instead make a removeable temporary tooth. For a visible tooth replacement within the smile line, we can address it cosmetically with a clear retainer or removable partial denture until the implant can support a tooth.

How Much Do Same Day Dental Implants Cost?

The cost of same day dental implants varies greatly. It depends on the region, the number of teeth to be replaced and the doctor’s training. The fee for a single tooth can range from $2,500 to $7,000. A full arch can range from $25,000 to $45,000, (including the final prostheses).
